Milaan Foundation envisions an inclusive and equal world where every girl has the knowledge, skills and social environment to pursue her dreams and explore her full potential. Over the last 12 years, Milaan has worked with more than 35,000 children and young people and advocated for safer and more inclusive spaces for them at various state and national platforms. The Milaan School specifically serves low income and lower cast families in a rural community in Uttar Pradesh, India.
Hello I am Rekha. I am about 14 years old girl. I am in grade 6. I like play football and kho-kho. I am foodie person so I like to eat noodles and pakaudi. I like cook food. I have three younger sisters. I am the eldest one. I like doing mathematics and English poems. I like to teach my younger bothers. I am happy that I am the part of swabhiman program. In my leisure time I like watch Hindi movies. I help my mother in domestic work I want to be a teacher.

Subhi's hobbies are to visit new places and playing kho-kho. She likes sports. She participated in sports competition in kho-kho competition. She is the eldest of her five siblings. She wants to be a teacher.

Vishal is an athletic boy. He works hard both in studies and playing games. He likes playing games with his friends. He lives with his 4 siblings along with his grandparents. Someday, Vishal hopes to become a police officer.

Archana is a smart and charming girl. Her mother, Smt. Lalita Pal works in the school as a cook for the midday meal program. She has 2 sisters and one brother. She wants to enhance curricular and co-curricular skills. She wants to learn stitching. In her free time she likes to meet her friends and go out.

To make craft work is Neelu's hobby. Neelu likes drawing. She is in grade 7. She in first one in her four siblings. Her father is a farmer and mother is a home maker. Neelu is an average student. English is her favorite subject. She wants to be a craft teacher.

Sarika was born in a village called Gulripurwa in Uttar Pradesh , India. She is the third child amongst the seven children born to her parents. As common in almost every rural India, what is known of her date of birth is just the year she was born in. She's now 16 years old and very much happy that she has the chance to complete her education. Sarika was compelled to drop out of school after completion of class 5. The reason was because her mother had been diagnosed with a mental disorder. Sarika was responsible of taking caring of her sick mother. As her father works as a laborer in Lucknow Uttar Pradesh, earning only INR 2000 a month, he remained mostly away from home, therefore not having a chance to be with his wife. Now that Sarika's mother is recovering; she wants to continue with her education with the full support from her family. English is her favorite subject and after attaining her education she aspires to be a teacher so that she can impart knowledge to disadvantaged children, and also earn a living at the same time. Besides, she is also very fond of tailoring. She is very determined to complete her schooling and attend college.
